FutureSound event explored how music can ‘transform the human experience’

As a collective dedicated to championing new ways in which sound and music can enrich, enhance, inspire and improve our lives, on Saturday 31st July 2021 FutureSound hosted a special live hybrid event.

The Step Into The Future event featured three hours of talks, presentations and performances, which incorporated discussions on artificial intelligence, wellbeing, altered states, ancient wisdom, as well as electronic music & meditation.

Speakers that featured included EastForest, a ‘soulgaze’ pioneer, who explored ‘Music as a sonic technology and its use as an instrument for healing’ - Creative scientist and futurist Katherine Templar-Lewis co-founder of Kinda Studios in a deep conversation with Microsoft’s former Director of Sound + Sensory Design Matthew Bennett, on the importance of sound and wellbeing in design and experience.

Dutch designer & innovator Anouk Wipprecht explored ‘Neuro technology & fashion tech’ & another Netherlands native, Dutch electronic music producer, singer, performer & technology innovator Chagaal gave us a glimpse into her audio-visual live music performances that reimagine the world of live electronica.

FutureSound resident Carl H Smith, delivered a mind-blowing keynote on the topic of ‘Sound, technology and consciousness 2021’ probing deep and stretching the imagination.

MUSIC CONNECTS US

Ari Peralta - who co-launched Music Connects Us an edgy report in partnership with Beatport and Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) gave an inspirational talk on music as a resource that can be used to help us all cultivate balance, slow down & to become more mindful & connect.

Jamie Jones along with Meya founder Raff Ricci, FutureSound host Jimmy Kyriacou & sound artist Satya Hinduja examined ‘The journey of transformation through electronic music and meditation’ & the afternoon came to a grand finale with an alchemy crystal bowl sound bath with HighTimes - who also opened the event with a fascinating talk on ancient sound.
